About Dr. Morcease J. Beasley

Dr. Morcease J. Beasley is a husband and the father of four beautiful children. He completed the Doctor of Education Degree at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where he earned his Educational Specialists and Master of Science degrees. Mr. Beasley earned the Bachelors degree in Mathematics from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama. He has been an educator for thirteen years. Dr. Beasley served as a Math teacher at Phillips High School in Birmingham, Alabama for three and a half years before being appointed as Assistant Principal. After working as Assistant Principal, he served as Acting Principal of Phillips High and then Associate Principal of the newest high school built in Birmingham within thirty years. As Associate Principal of the George Washington Carver High School for Health Professions, Engineering, and Technology, he assisted with launching the school to premier status. Soon thereafter, he was appointed as Principal of Huffman High School in Birmingham. The challenge was to duplicate the success experienced at Phillips High School and Carver High School.

After one year, Mr. Beasley heard about Stephenson High School in DeKalb County Schools in DeKalb County, Georgia. Eager to move to the Atlanta, Georgia area, Dr. Beasley decided to apply for the Principalship at DeKalb County's largest school. The interviewing panel was impressed with his candid approach, ideas for improvement, and the sharing of proven strategies utilized at other schools where he has worked. They recommended Mr. Beasley as the top candidate for the Principalship at Stephenson High School. Upon being offered the position, Dr. Beasley accepted the appointment and so began his journey in the DeKalb County School System. He served as Principal and Chief Learning Officer of Stephenson High for five years. As Principal, he led the school to increased test scores, increased parental involvement, improved school morale, improved school safety, a sense of community, improved rigor, relevance and relationships. In Oct 2006, Dr. Morcease J. Beasley was approved as the Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and School Leadership for the Port Arthur Independent School District in Port Arthur, Texas. He continues to implement the keys for improving schools on a district-wide basis as Second in Command of the school district under the leadership of his Superintendent, Dr. Johnny E. Brown. The school district continues to make significant improvements in areas such as culture and climate, instructional effectiveness, student learning, instructional leadership development, parental involvement, community perceptions, and other areas that impact student achievement. He has led new district initiatives such as the Leadership Academy, Instructional Leadership Coaching for School Leaders, and the Master Teachers. Under the direction of his Superintendent, Dr. Beasley makes it a prioritized focus to consistently meet with all Central Office Administrators, Curriculum Supervisors, Principals, Assistant Principals, Teachers, Department and Grade Level Chairs, Media Specialists, Nurses, Social Workers, Paraprofessionals, Student Advisory, Teacher Advisory, Auxiliary Advisory, Parent Advisory, and other groups. Dr. Beasley is committed to ensuring phenomenal school improvement in Port Arthur Independent School District.
